It is a site of community importance interesting for its unique and superb landscapes.
Walk and admire the roman quarries on the east of the bay, visit the area of Cala spinosa with the XIX century lighthouse and Cala grande, known around the worldwide as “the moon valley” for its huge and bizarre granite formations. The whole area is ideal for scrambling, diving and snorkelling. Enjoy beautiful sunsets.

WESTSIDE COAST LINE
The stretch of coastline between Santa Teresa Gallura and Vignola (Aglientu) is relatively unspoilt, with just a few little hotels and resorts. The area is characterized by long sandy beaches, rocky points and various foothpaths that allow you to go from one beach to another. The beaches, along the road, are sheltered by pinetrees and sandy dunes shaped by the wind. The area is a paradise for windsurf and kitesurf lovers, on a windy day.
INLAND ITINERARY
Along the westside coastline, the country roads connecting la Colba to Porto Pozzo and Rena Majore to San Pasquale are very charming. The rural landscape is characterized by a few vineyards, cow pastures, and the old countryhouses, typical in
Gallura, (known as Stazzi) hidden among the granite rocks and the mediterranean vegetation perfumed by lavender, thyme,
rosemary, myrthle and helicrisum shrubs.
It is not unusual to come across wild boars, hares and foxes. B&B and farmhouses have been recently opened in this area to accomodate entusiasths of rural life. On the ways, the typical country church of Saltara which was built during the 1930s to gather the people scattered in the country, the sanctuary of Buonacammino surrounded by hundred-year old olive trees and the old holm oak of Caresi all merit a visit.
BONIFACIO
French town of medieval origins located at the extreme south of Corsica . There are two different ferry companies operating on the route Santa Teresa – Bonifacio (Moby Lines from April to September and Blu Navy from January to December) The crossing last 1 h.
EASTSIDE COASTLINE
It stretches for about 16 km. Explore the wild mediterranean landscape discovering and enjoying the magnificent small creeks, picturesque sandy beaches and strange rocky formations. From Porto Quadro, heads towards the tourist resorts of la Marmorata, Valle dell’Erica and Conca Verde, then, pass through the hamlet of Porto Pozzo and the peninsula of Coluccia, a protected nature reserve, and finally reach Porto Liscia beach, a remarkable surfing paradise.
PORTOPOZZO AND SAN PASQUALE VILLAGES
Porto Pozzo 12 km from Santa Teresa on the road to Olbia, is a hamlet located around a small natural harbour which has evolved from a very small agro-pastoral and fishing village into a seaside resort. Mussels acquaculture is an important source of income here and daily excursions to the isles of the archipelago are organized in high season. The small parish church of San Tommaso built during the 1930s is located along the main road, in the centre of village. Proceed along the main road and after two km turn right up to the hill where San Pasquale hamlet is located. From the top, you will be rewarded with
a unique and wide panoramic view taking in the isles of the archipelago of la Maddalena, the peninsula of Coluccia and the isles of Corsica. San Pasquale Baylon church, at the entrance of the small hamlet was built in granite and in the style of the romanic basilica during the 1960s, the interior features various statues and a beautiful baptistery from the
late nineteenth century
THE ARCIPELAGO OF LA MADDALENA
Protected area since 1996 consists of 7 beautiful islands, 5 of which are uninhabited. They are characterized by granite rocks, turquoise water and mediterranean vegetation, an ideal spot for snorkelling and swimming. Rent a boat or go on a organized boat excursion leaving from Santa Teresa and Porto Pozzo harbours or Conca Verde quay.
